“Whatever else be lost among the years,
Let us keep Christmas still a shining thing;
Whatever doubts assail us, or what fears,
Let us hold close one day, remembering
Its poignant meaning in the hearts of men.
Let us get back our childlike faith again.”
–Grace Noll Crowell
Parents & adults, think about the idea of childlike wonder, and the way Christmas made you feel as a kid. Make a list of at least five things that remind you of that sense of wonder – candy canes? Christmas lights? Snow? The smell of pine? Midnight Mass? Hot cocoa in front of the fire? Decorating the tree? What were your favorite parts of Christmas when YOU were a kid?
Once you have your list, share it with your children & family. Then take a few minutes either in silence, or listening to a favorite Christmas carol, and pray to God to keep that sense of wonder alive in you this season.
